Thailand's own Oktoberfest

Until the end of this month, the "Tastes of Germany" fair organised by Germany's Agriculture Marketing Board and Central Food Retail Co, is celebrating Oktoberfest, the world's biggest festival, at 27 Central department store branches nationwide.
The original Oktoberfest is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, during late September and early October. It's the highlight of the city's calendar, and the world's largest German beer and food festival with some six million people attending every year. During the Tastes of Germany celebration, customers have a choice of more than 500 quality German delicacies and products, as well as cooking demonstrations by famous chefs, Bavarian dancing and other activities. Examples of culinary delights on offer include sirloin, lamb, German sausages, fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices, desserts, selected beer and wine. "Many products such as German sausages, Eisbein, or 'ice leg' [roast pork knuckle], and German draft beer may already be familiar to Thai people. Launching this fair could significantly help promote German specialities. There's a wide variety of products and recipes from leading brands to choose from," promises Nick Reitmeier, chief of the international food and wine department of Central Food Retail Co.
