Innovative Media's new 3-D technology a first for Asia

An Innovative Media presenter displays a 3-D ad on one of the new terminals.
Innovative Media yesterday launched Asia's first three-dimensional media using HoloVision hologram technology from the US and plans to install at least 100 terminals next year.

"We are negotiating with several retail and transport operators, such as Tesco Lotus, Carrefour, PowerBuy, the Skytrain, the subway and Suvarnabhumi Airport, to install our HoloVision media to sell air time," said vice president for product development Paiboon Kharoonyalert.

"The partnership with those retail and infrastructure operators will be through revenue sharing," he said.

If the talks are successful, Suvarnabhumi will receive 30-50 terminals, becoming the first airport in the world with HoloVision media.

Innovative Media has become the exclusive local agent for Provision Interactive Technologies, making Thailand the third international market in the world following Australia and New Zealand to introduce the latter company's HoloVision media technology.

Hologram technology originated in Hollywood, California.

"Our business strategy for HoloVision media in Thailand will be through the

development of three key channels of distribution. Those are selling the media machines; renting them out; and installing them in retail outlets, office buildings and infrastructure projects like the Skytrain, subway and airports for sales of air time," Paiboon said.

Innovative Media expects the HoloVision media to generate revenues of Bt30 million to Bt50 million in the first year, with 65 per cent coming from sales and rentals of hardware and 35 per cent from air-time sales.

However, he added that air-time revenues would contribute the larger

portion -about 65 per cent of total revenues - from the new media within two years.
