In Brief :For musical SMEs, it's all in the Mind

Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved with music equipment and entertainment expect sales amounting to Bt500 million from an art and music expo called Mind 2006, to be held from December 7-11 at Muang Thong Thani's Impact Arena.
The event, described as Asia's biggest art and music show, is being organised by the Expolink Global Network. Managing director Posit Sasitranont said up to 100 SMEs would take part in the five-day event, which expects to attract about 10,000 visitors, including traders and end users.
Bentley jackpot at new airport Visa International and the King Power Group, operators of King Power duty-free shops and the commercial-activity area at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport, have begun a three-month-long "Shop and Win" promotion for international visitors and Thais alike. The promotion, which runs to the end of the year, is open to anyone who spends at least Bt5,000 at a King Power shop or any food and beverage outlet at Suvarnabhumi Airport or at the King Power Downtown Duty-Free Mall in Bangkok. Customers paying with a Visa card double their chances of winning either a Bentley Continental GT or 1 gram of gold for every kilogram of their body weight, up to 80 kilograms maximum. One Bentley car, valued at about Bt20 million, and 10 gold prizes will be given away each month until the promotion ends.
Cosmetics show at Impact Arena Cosmetics manufacturers are preparing to launch a collection of new products at the Health and Beauty Show 2006, to be held at Muang Thong Thani's Impact Arena from November 8-12. Among the new products making their first public appearances will be cactus-derived cosmetics, an all-natural facial mask, cocktail-mixed herbs for alcoholic potions and Thai silk-derived cosmetics. Department of Export Promotion director-general Chantra Purnariksha said the event promised to introduce a range of new health and beauty innovations. She said some had been launched abroad and were now making their Thai debut, while others were making their world debut at the event.
New job for Tay as MD at FedEx FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, announced yesterday that the company has appointed Lily Tay as the managing director of customer service operations for the South Pacific region. Based in Malaysia, Tay is responsible for the development and execution of the overall customer-service strategies and call-centre operations in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand. Tay reports to Peter Yin, vice president of the Customer Experience function for Asia-Pacific.
