In Brief :Exporters will get help to cut costs

The Commerce Ministry is to help exporters slash costs by between 13 per cent and 16 per cent by 2010 in a bid to boost trade growth.

Anantara in Maldives Anantara opened its first property in the Maldives last month. The resort is a five-star "boutique hideaway" on two hectares of Dhigufinolhu Island of South Male Atoll 30 kilometres from the Maldives capital Male, company vice president and general manager Christopher Stafford said last week. Maldives architect Mohamed Shafeeg, together with Thai-based interior-design company Abacus, built the resort to "complement the company's existing properties in Thailand".
Emirates shines Emirates, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is set to close the year with an impressive trophy collection following its recent recognition as the Best Airline business class from TTG Asia. The award was presented to Emirates at TTG's 17th Annual Travel Awards 2006 held recently in Pattaya, and attended by leading airline and travel company executives.
