Land for fourth Ibis Hotel on Samui

The Erawan Group has bought just over a hectare of land on Koh Samui, on which it plans to build its fourth Ibis Hotel.
The group plans to have 10 Ibis Hotels in the Kingdom by the end of 2010. The first three are in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. The Samui Ibis will have 250 rooms and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2008. Land and construction are expected to cost about Bt580 million.
TMB Gold Fund to hike capital TMB Asset Management says the Securities and Exchange Commission has given a green light to an increase in registered capital for the TMB Gold Fund, from US$30 million (Bt1.12 billion) now to $50 million. Managing director Chotika Sawananon said the fund's net asset value as of Wednesday was Bt1.17 billion and its return from inception to September 29 has been 6.2 per cent.
THAI adds more winter flights
Thai Airways International has increased its number of flights for the winter high season, from October 29 to March 24, to respond to higher demand from travellers and the opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport. Two new international destinations have been added: Johannesburg, South Africa, and Hyderabad, India. More local and international flights will soon be introduced, including an increased flight frequency between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, from 72 flights per week to 77, to accommodate rising demand for tickets to Royal Flora Ratchaphruek. The national carrier will also increase its flights between Bangkok and Krabi from 24 a week to 28.
