Reshuffle at Justice Ministry

The Justice Ministry will undergo a major reshuffle to rotate senior officials including the high-profile director-general of the Department of Special Investigation, Justice Minister Apai Chanthanajulaka said yesterday.

Apai said he had instructed acting permanent secretary Jaral Phakdeethanakul to handle the reshuffle. Jaral said later the reshuffle was expected to be complete within this week.

Apai said he did not know whether the DSI chief Sombat Amornwiwat would be replaced. However, news reports indicate that Sombat, a police general, had expressed interest in returning to his police career.

Apai said the ministry would confirm whether Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunant would still head the Central Institute of Forensic Science after a probe into alleged spending irregularities was complete. - The Nation
