Thai Rak Thai :Wan Noor to quit party, politics

Wadah faction leader Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said yesterday he would leave the Thai Rak Thai Party, according to a source.
"He told us that he would step down and would end his political career," the source said, adding Wan Noor has not yet submitted his resignation. More than 10 members of the Wadah faction have decided to quit the party, following in the footsteps of other factions that have already deserted. They would tender their resignations today.
Cabinet appointment :Pridiyathorn named deputy PM Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula was yesterday appointed by the Cabinet as the first deputy prime minister, making him acting prime minister when PM Surayud Chulanont is absent or unable to perform his duty.
Lawsuits :Yaowaret to settle with Alongkorn In light of shifting political winds, a sister of deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday prepared to settle libel cases against Democrat Party deputy leader Alongkorn Pollabutr. Businesswoman Yaowaret Shinawatra lodged two criminal and civil lawsuits accusing Alongkorn of defamation and demanding Bt500 million in damage. In retaliation Alongkorn filed counter-suits contending that Yaowaret had raised false charges against him.
Siam Commercial bank :Kannikar appointed president Siam Commercial Bank yesterday appointed Kannikar Chalitaport as president and CEO to succeed Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, whose term expires in January. Kannikar is a senior executive vice president for marketing and the retail finance at the bank.
