Legislators get to work

The National Legislative Assembly is slated to convene its first session in the second half of next week, presided over by His Majesty the King.
Many of the 242 newly-appointed legislators reported for work yesterday at the Senate secretariat, which will manage administrative affairs for the assembly. The House secretariat is expected to serve the soon-to-be formed Constitution Drafting Assembly. Among the first legislators to assume office were former Navy chief Admiral Prasert Boonsong, former senator Wallop Tangkhananurak and gossip columnist Thaemsin "Ladda" Ratanaphan. The first session has been set tentatively for Wednesday, or no later than Friday. After the assembly has been called, the members will proceed to elect a speaker and debate platforms of the interim government.
