Pratin versus Adul fistcuffs settled

A magistrates' court ended an judicial review on an assault case involving two former senators on Thursday after the two reached an amicable settlement over their 2004 tussle on the Senate floor.
Government prosecutors initiated the court battle, charging former senator Pratin Santiprapop for punching his colleague Adul Wanchaithanawong in the face while the two were debating drug suppression laws. The Pratin-Adul scuffle was the first case of fisticuffs to have occurred inside Parliament. In his defence, Pratin said he threw the first punch as a pre emptive strike because he understood that Adul was about to hit him. Under the courtsanctioned mediation, Pratin and Adul agreed to drop the case, saying they no longer wanted to pursue the judicial review. In taking the case off its docket, the Dusit Kwaeng Court endorsed the settlement and ruled that the disputed parties had no intention to assault one another but had acted in haste.
