Wandee may challenge Pongsaklek

[BOXING] Dominant Thai boxing champion Pongsaklek Krating-daeng Gym will certainly take on the challenge from Wandee Sing-wangcha if the former World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight interim champion decides to move up a division and challenge him, Pongsaklek's manager Piyarat Wachirattanawong said yesterday.
On Monday the 26-years-old Wandee was forced to vacate his title despite winning a points decision over Japanese contender Munetsugu Kayo in Tokyo due to being overweight. Having struggled to make the weight in the 108-pound division, Wandee said he might move to the flyweight division to face reigning champion Pongsaklek, who became the first Thai inducted into the WBC Hall of Fame in June after defending his title for the 15th time in a row. Asked whether he would accept Wandee's challenge, Piyarat said: "I think we have no problem if he really climbs up a division, but Wandee should have his manager [Narit Singwangcha] negotiate the fight with us first because Pongsaklek's programme is very tight. "The sooner the talks occur, the better for us as we can adjust our schedule. If the all-Thai bout really happens, fans would be really excited."
