Hunt on for rally disrupter

The Metropolitan Police Bureau yesterday issued an arrest warrant for assault suspect Jaral Jong-on who failed to report for questioning over his alleged involvement in a clash with anti-government protesters at CentralWorld in August.

"The court-sanctioned warrant has been distributed to every police station and Jaral can be arrested on sight," Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Maj-General Kamol Kaewsuwan said.

Kamol said police launched a manhunt after Jaral failed to report to Pathum Wan police station despite three summonses.

The police investigation into the tussle between pro- and anti-government protesters at CentralWorld stalled for months.

This appeared to change after the overthrow of the Thaksin Shinawatra government on September 19.

Police had previously refused to track down Jaral even though he is required to serve out his jail term for a drug conviction in Nakhon Si Thammarat after violating his parole by attacking anti-Thaksin protesters.
