Highlights of the week :Interim Cabinet awaits endorsement

This week's biggest issue is the Cabinet line-up, which is expected to become official today after Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont submitted his Cabinet appointments for royal endorsement over the weekend.
The Cabinet members are expected to hold their first meeting as soon as tomorrow.
TRT to pick leader Also today, members of the Thai Rak Thai Party will choose the acting party leader after ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra resigned last week. Deputy leaders Sudarat Keyuraphan or Chaturon Chaisang, who are next in the line of command, have made it known that they don't want the job. It is likely Pongthep Thepkanchana, another deputy leader, may be chosen.
Asset investigation Asset Examination Committee (AEC) chairman Nam Yimyaem will today speak with three investigative committees examining projects undertaken by the Thaksin government. Last week the AEC revealed eight projects under scrutiny, including an alleged embezzlement stemming from the Bt5.6-billion budget earmarked to compensate for land appropriation to build reservoirs in rural areas. It has also finished three projects relating to irregularities at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Charter judges meet The Constitution Court's nine judges are expected to hold their first meeting this week to discuss how the court should function. The judges were appointed last week. They expect to review alleged electoral fraud involving five political parties, including Thai Rak Thai and Democrat parties.
