Workshop for SMEs in auto parts
The Export Promotion Department in cooperation with the Thai Auto Parts Manufacturers Association will hold a workshop next week aimed at strengthening SMEs in the industry.
The plan came after the entry of Germany-based Volkswagen, which recently said it would expand its production base in Asia including the Kingdom over six to 10 years. The workshop on Thursday and Friday will focus on how to deal with changes in the policies of giant carmakers - including those in Germany, Russia and the US - towards auto-parts production. These changes will open opportunities for local auto-parts SMEs. The workshop will also teach auto-parts SMEs how to penetrate overseas markets. The department will help the participants by transferring know-how and techniques so they can become quality manufacturers. The department and the association will soon organise another seminar "Russia/US Auto Parts Markets" for local SMEs.
