Minor Food Group has targeted revenues from its franchised branches of The Pizza Company and Swensen's to jump from Bt830 million this year to Bt1.2 billion next year, based on the expansion of franchises to 110 outlets across the country.
Kullavat Vichailak, franchise director of the Minor Food Group - a unit of Minor International - yesterday said The Pizza Company now had 160 outlets, of which 128 are under its own management and 32 are franchised.
Swensen's has 156 outlets, of which 110 are run by the company and 46 by franchisees.
Swensen's will expand faster than The Pizza Company, as the new outlets have lower start-up costs.
The ice-cream parlour's prospective franchisees are required to invest at least Bt6 million per outlet, while the pizza parlour's franchisees must spend Bt13 million.
Minor's franchise expansion has covered almost every part of Bangkok. Now, the South and the Northeast are the most promising areas because they put in the best sales performance last year.
The Pizza Company expects this year's revenues from its franchisees will reach Bt500
million, up 40 per cent from Bt350 million last year. Swensen's franchisees will generate Bt330 million, doubling last year's revenues of Bt155 million.
The company will add 10-15 franchised outlets per year for each brand.
The company has gained entry to markets in China, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia and the Philippines by selling its franchises.
Minor Food Group has no plan to start franchising its other fast-service restaurant concepts - Burger King, Dairy Queen and Sizzler - in the near future, Kullavat said.
