Admin Court to rule on merit of Shin case

The Central Administrative Court will today read out an appellate decision whether to accept or reject a lawsuit seeking to cancel licences granted to Shin Corp for communication satellites, mobile phone services and television broadcast.

In light of the sale of the communications giant by the family of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, law lecturer Sastra Toon initiated a judicial review in March to examine the concession agreements.

Sastra said in his administra-

tive lawsuit that Shin Corp was no longer entitled to hold the licences because its businesses were under the control of Temasek Holdings, the Singaporebased investment firm.

He petitioned for a court order instructing the Information and Communication Technology Minis-try, staterun TOT Plc and Prime Minister's Office to revoke respective concession agreements signed with Shin Corp.

The court initially ruled against launching the judicial review on grounds that Sastra was not a contractual party.

The Supreme Administrative Court later decided that the case warranted the appellate review and formed its verdict last month.
