Jim Thompson Festival

The Thai Silk Co Ltd, the maker and distributor of silk products under the Jim Thompson brand, expects about 50,000 people to visit its annual fair in mid-December and hopes to generate more than Bt300 million in sales.

The Jim Thompson Festival will highlight products and fun activities to celebrate the centenary of Jim Thompson's birth, in a three-day event starting on December 15 at Bitec in Bangkok.

"The Jim Thompson Festival is to be organised as the year 2006 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mr James H W Thompson, or Jim Thompson, who founded the company and helped develop Thai silk production to be world famous for its high quality and exquisiteness," said Eric Booth, international marketing director of The Thai Silk Co Ltd. "The festival also aims to raise awareness of the Jim Thompson brand among Thais, expanding our customer base beyond mainly tourists and foreigners."

Apart from Jim Thompson items, the event will include products and activities related to health, travel and leisure, food and beverages.
