China, Taiwan top their groups

[VOLLEYBALL] The Chinese and Taiwanese teams powered past their rivals to top Group B and Group D after their group round-robin preliminaries at the Asian Women's Junior Under-19 Volleyball Championship at The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima's MCC Hall yesterday.

The Taiwan team came from behind to defeat South Korea 3-2, while the Chinese team were too good for Vietnam and won in straight sets.

The other matches yesterday saw Australia outclass Singapore 3-0, while New Zealand survived a sturdy challenge from Sri Lanka to win 3-1.

Sri Lanka take on Singapore today in the classification round, while the quarter-finals see Japan play New Zealand.

Thailand, which had a rest day yesterday, challenge Australia, China go up against South Korea and Taiwan take on Vietnam.
