China congratulate Surayud's appointment

China sent a congratulatory note on Wednesday over the appointment of Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont.

The Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Zhang Jiuhuan, conveyed the note to Permanent Secretary General for foreign affairs Grit Ganchana-gunchorn.

The note, signed by China's Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to Surayud, said that the Chinese government would like to congratulate the appointment of Gen Surayud to the post, and that the Chinese prime minister will be happy to work with the Thai premier to promote existing cooperation in several areas for bilateral benefits.

Wen also praised the bilateral relations as having been excellent in good terms throughout the century.
