SAP builds on commercial software leadership position

SAP Asia Pacific yesterday announced for the second time in two months that a respected industry analysis firm had confirmed the Singaporean and Australian company's continued market leadership in the region.
In the most recent market analysis, covering the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan, global IT research and consulting firm IDC reported that SAP, whose parent is based in Germany, had further increased its market share as the number one enterprise software vendor in the region. Based on software licence and maintenance revenue, SAP ranks top in all enterprise software solutions and seven industry categories IDC tracked in the second half of 2005. The software applications measured included enterprise resource management, human capital management, customer relationship management and product supply chain , also known as supply-chain management. SAP led in nearly all of the industry categories included in the IDC study, with particular strengths in manufacturing, government and retail, and leadership in the banking, transportation, insurance and education industries. In the government sector, IDC estimated SAP Asia Pacific's revenues were three times that of the number two vendor, having grown by more than 50 percent year-on-year.
