Headman shot dead in South

A village headman has been shot dead and two rangers were seriously injured in separate attacks in the South.

Yesterday, Ban Payo village chief Masa-ingyapa Buta, 56, was shot dead by motorcyclists while sitting in front of his home.

Late on Saturday, a home-made bomb exploded at a home in Yarang district, Pattani, injuring rangers Ama Sadiyamoo, 30, and Mahama Emeng.

Islamic militants were suspected in both attacks.
