Wiradech for Italy

[FENCING] Sabre ace Wiradech Kothny will spearhead Thailand's challenge in the World Fencing Championships, which will take place in Turin, Italy, from today through Friday.
Apart from world No-71 Wiradech, the team also comprises seven-time national champion Sares Limkangwarnmongkol, Ekkathet Ket-Iam, Natee Kettanchareon, the 23rd SEA Games champion Nontapat Panchan and Thai-Swiss Michael Zwimfer. Thai fencers, who are preparing for the Asian Games in Doha, will contend in the men's individual sabre, men's team sabre and men's individual foil. This is the first time the Amateur Fencing Association of Thailand (AFAT) has fielded Thai fencers in the team event. Though their chances of winning a medal are bleak, the Thai team hopes to gain plenty of experience competing against the best in the world before the December Asian Games.
