AFL party

One of Australia's biggest sporting events takes place in Melbourne on Saturday when the Sydney Swans take on the West Coast Eagles in the grand final of the Australian Football League, which is better known as Aussie Rules.
Fans of this popular Australian game in Bangkok will get to see all the action live, as well as enjoy traditional Aussie food, wine and drinks in what has been called the "biggest grand final event outside Australia". Property developers Raimon Land are hosting "AFL Grand Final Day 2006" at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, starting with a champagne breakfast at 8.30am. Lunch will be traditional Australian fare of pies, wedgies and hot dogs, there will be free-flowing beer, wine and spirits and a "stand-up long bar" will be erected to give the place the feel of the MCG, the venue of the big match. The special guest will be Melbourne business and football identity John Elliot and the game kicks off at 11am.
