Janitor shot dead in Pattani
Pattani - Militants shot dead a school janitor on a passenger bus in this southern border province Wednesday morning.
Police said the shooting took place at 7:50 am in Mayo district.The dead man was identified as Amnuay Nilnam, 44, who lived in Pattanis' Panare district. He was shot on a Panare-Yala bus and died at the scene. Police said an assailant shot him with a 9mm pistol two ties at his head. Pol Lt Col Narat Thepchalerm, deputy commander of the Mayo police station, said Amnuay was a janitor of Siriraj Samakkhi School in Mayo district. He took the bus from Panare to Mayo to work. Eyewitnesses told police that there were about ten passengers on the bus. When the bus arrived at the scene, two men got up and one of them pulled out his pistol and fired three shots at Amnuay. Two bullets landed on his head. The two men then jumped off the bus and fled on foot. Narat said witnessed told police that the two men got in the bus at the Palus market about two kilometers before the shooting scene. Narat said police were drafting facial sketches of the two men.
