Peeraphan 'not surprised' by fall

Former PM's Office permanent secretary Peeraphan Prempooti said yesterday that though he regretted being moved out of his post by the Council for Democratic Reform under Constitutional Monarchy, he was not surprised that it happened.
The former secretary-general of the Anti-Money Laundering Office said he regretted being transferred because he had yet to fully carry out his role at the permanent secretary's office. Maj-General Peeraphan, who was also an adviser to ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, was appointed permanent secretary of the Prime Minister's Office two months ago. "It did not occur to me that I would be moved immediately. But since the order was issued, I have to resign myself to it because as a former cop, I must have discipline. I have served in the civil service for 30 years. I have been moved around 30 times already,'' he said. He denied knowing anything about the possibility that he might be approached to join the asset-investigation team led by Auditor General Khunying Jaruwan Maintaka. He said he did not know exactly what his new job at Government House would be. Asked how he felt about talk suggesting that all people who had been close to Thaksin would be moved out, he said he was a civil servant serving HM the King.
