Lates news :Oil prices to fall

Oil retailers will today cut the retail prices of all types of oil, bringing down octane-95 petrol price below Bt26 per litre for the first time in a year.

After the 40-satang price cut, octane-95 petrol will retails at Bt25.99 a litre, regular at Bt25.19 and high-speed diesel at Bt24.94.

Travel Mart 2006 on track

Despite the sudden political change in the Kingdom, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will proceed with the 5th Annual Thailand Travel Mart 2006 Plus (TTM Plus) Amazing Gateway to the Mekong Region, from next Tuesday to Friday at Muang Thong Thani.

Many foreign participants will arrive at Don Muang Airport but depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport after its official opening next Thursday.

The 367 seller organisations participating in this year's TTM Plus include 230 hotels, 11 airlines, 10 ecotourism and adventure operators, 10 entertainment and sports companies, 10 medical and health-tourism facilities, 10 national tourism organisations, 20 other services, 31 tour operators and 35 companies from the Greater Mekong Subregion.

A total of 149 buyers were invited from 35 countries.

Aircraft tales are scotched

Transport Ministry Permanent Secretary Wanchai Sarathulthat yesterday denied rumours he would propose the purchase of eight aircraft worth a total Bt300 billion to the Thai Airways International Plc board before his retirement this month.

He said there had been no item on the agenda of yesterday's board meeting that involved buying aircraft, assigning executives to oversee a purchasing plan or the benefits of such a purchase.

The board did approve the recruitment of 509 new staff to serve the new flight schedules at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which opens officially next Thursday.
