Muang Thai expands offerings

Muang Thai Insurance will start selling seven new policies at Carrefour nationwide, using what it calls a "products on the shelf" strategy to take the pain out of buying insurance.
The company hopes the new products will build on a partnership it has had over the past year with Cencar Company, the owner of Carrefour, a large discount-store chain, said Nualphan Lamsam, president of Muang Thai. Shoppers are already able to buy compulsory motor and third-party liability motor insurance at customer-service counters of Carrefour outlets nationwide. The products are: lBaan Muang Thai, a policy that covers homes and their contents from accidents under a single policy. lPA for Love: A group policy that makes advance payments for medical care for loved ones. lPA for the Elderly, a personal accident policy for the elderly and retirees aged 60-75 years that pays out in the event of death by accident. lPA Credit: a personal accident insurance that makes advance payments for medical care. lPA for employees and alien workers, a personal accident insurance that covers workers for accident and illness suffered both on and off the job. lSabay Jamjaew, an individual and group personal accident policy for housemaids and factory workers. lTravel D-Lite, an accident and health policy that covers individuals worldwide for up to 90 days of both personal and business travel. In creating the new policies the company hopes to attract new customers and will try to best match the coverage needs of their customers with the right policies, Nualphan said. Policies will be sold during Carrefour's regular operating times so that shoppers can secure policies easily and conveniently, Nualphan said. The insurer has trained up two employees at each Carrefour branch to be able to answer queries and provide information on each insurance product, premium remittance and premium-receipt issuance to customers. The company has set up an electronic system to offer the service.
