EC assigns responsibilities
The Office of the Election Commission has assigned responsibilities to each of the new commissioners, a source said yesterday.
Under the new assignments, Apichart Sukhakkanon will be responsible for general management; Sumet Oupanisakorn will handle public participation affairs; Prapan Naikowit will take care of election management; Somchai Jung-prasert will oversee all investigative work; and Sodsri Satayathum will be in charge of political party affairs. The five commissioners will unofficially inspect their offices and have a meeting with other EC officials to discuss the backlog of election cases. They will decide later who will be responsible for litigation work, meetings and public relations, internal audits and the inspector's office. Prapan said the EC would invite all parties to help decide on the date of the next election.
