LATE NEWS
ROI adviser for power sector

The Electricity Regulatory Board expects to hire an adviser next month to study the return on investment (ROI) of three power agencies.

As this will be the base for calculating a new power rate structure, an adviser is necessary to review the reference ratios which have been used, board member Vichit Lorjeerachunkul said yesterday.

The board was told the Energy Policy and Planning Office could this month approve a Bt103-million budget to hire an adviser for the next independent power producer bidding. The terms of reference for the bidding could then be available next March.

Buildings that talk at Asoke

King Power is spending Bt10 million on talking buildings at Asoke intersection in Bangkok, to mark the September 28 inauguration of its new duty-free shop at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

A light-and-sound show will be held from 7-8pm from September 18-21 at Exchange Tower and Column Tower, giving passers-by the sensation the  buildings are talking to each other, according to the company.

Extra JAL flight from Sept 28

Japan Airlines will add a daily flight between Bangkok and Tokyo after Suvarnabhumi Airport opens on September 28 to serve rising demand as well as transit flights. "Many people want to use Thailand as a transit point to a third country, but Bangkok International Airport [Don Muang] is too crowded and the number of flights to Bangkok is limited," said Seigi Iwasaki, JAL regional manager.

JAL currently has four daily flights between the capitals.
