BoI secretary-general Satit Chanjavanakul said businessmen led by the state-owned Swiss Organisation for Facilitating Investments, which helps businesses invest abroad, and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce had arrived in Thailand yesterday and would stay until tomorrow.

The agreement is aimed at helping coordinate and enhance investments and information exchanges between the Kingdom and Switzerland.

The group includes representatives from Alstom Switzerland Ltd, a developer of infrastructure for large transport systems and power-generating plants; Beaulieu Spa & Wellness Resort; Kaba Ltd, a producer of security equipment for large corporations; and Schneider Transport Ltd, a logistics company.

Other companies included HaslerRail, a producer and designer of electronics used for mass-transit systems, and Neida Ltd, a producer of auto parts and machinery, as well as business consulting firms.

Satit said the Swiss delegation had watched a presentation about Thailand's economy and the investment experiences of state-owned agencies including the BoI, the National Economic and Social Development Board, the International Trade Negotiations Department, as well as Phatra Securities. The executives also plan to visit Swiss companies already operating in Thailand as well a few large industrial parks before returning home on Saturday.

Swiss companies have received or applied for privileges from the BoI on 221 projects worth Bt62.28 billion as of August 31. Most of the ventures are in the electronics and auto parts, automotive, petrochemical, and services industries.
