Bangkok Air gets an early start

Bangkok Airways announced yesterday that it would start some operations out of Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 21 - a week prior to the official opening of the facility.

This phase of the boutique airline's operation will include flights to and from Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and China's Jinghong (Xixuangbanna) and Shenzhen.

The airline is offering introductory fares of Bt6,000 from Suvarnabhumi to Jinghong and Shenzhen, and Bt4,000 to Koh Samui. Fares to Sukhothai and Chiang Mai remain unchanged.

The offers are under the condition that the passengers depart from the new airport between September 21 and 27 and return by October 15.

All of Bangkok Airways' passengers flying on both domestic and international flights will check in at Row F, on the 4th floor of the passenger terminal beginning September 21.

The airline is also introducing the "Blue Ribbon Club" (BRC) Business Class for passengers travelling between Phnom Penh and Bangkok on the last daily flights beginning September 1. This will be the first time the airline offers business class.

Business class will initially be offered on the daily PG927 flight leaving Phnom Pehn at 8.10pm and arriving in Bangkok at 9.20pm, and PG926 leaving Bangkok daily at 6.10pm and arriving in Phnom Pehn at 7.20pm. These routes will be served using a 110-seat A319115, configured with 20 business-class seats and 90 in economy class.

BRC passengers benefit from a separate check-in counter, the BRC lounge, priority boarding, priority baggage claim, and onboard BRC business class services.

Bangkok Airways is also introducing a "buy one, get one free" promotion for every purchase of a return ticket worth Bt16,990 exclusive of tax, insurance and fuel surcharge between September 1 and December 31. For FlyerBonus members, double economy-class points will be credited for each purchased ticket as well as the complimentary one.
