Judicial reshuffle

The Judicial Commission yes?terday approved the reshuffle of 64 senior judges and prominent court officials including the appointment of a new secretary to the Supreme Court.

Phattharasak Wannasaeng, a Court of Appeals judge attached to the secretariat of the Supreme Court, will succeed Jaral Phakdeethanakul, who was made chief of a judge's quorum in the Court of Appeals.

The appointment will take effect on October 1.

The Commission reshuffled 32 judges in Level 4 positions and promoted 52 judges serving in both lower criminal and civil courts to be Court of Appeals judges.

Phattharasak, 48, is a rising star in judicial circles. He first began his civil service career as a law lecturer at Thammasat University, where he graduated with second honours, before becoming an assistant judge in 1985.

He is well versed in both crim?inal and civil laws and is current?ly director of Raphee Phatthanasak Law Research Centre and the Institute for Development of Judicial Officials.
