Boonsak in top form

[BADMINTON] Thai ace Boonsak Ponsana downed Malaysian Yogendran Krishnan 21-19 21-17 to advance to the third round of the men's singles in the US$250,000 Hong Kong Open Championships yesterday.
Boonsak next takes on China's world No 11 Chen Yu, who recently beat Thai world No 10 Boonsak in the quarter-finals of the SCG World Grand Prix Thailand Open in July. Fellow Thai Poompat Sapkulchananart fell to world No 2 Lin Dan of China 21-11 21-15. Countrymen Sudket Prapakamol and Songphon Anukritayawan progressed to the men's doubles quarter-finals, where they meet Indonesians Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan, after defeating world No 10 Prezemyslaw Wacha and Robert Mateusiak of Poland 21-18 19-21 21-16 in the second round. In the women's singles, Thailand's Salakjit Ponsana and Soratja Chansrisukot crashed out after losses in their first round matches on Tuesday. In the second round of the women's doubles, Thai world No 8 pair Saralee Thungthongkam and Sathinee Chankrachangwong were eliminated by Petya Nedelcheva and Diana Dimova of Bulgaria 22-20 21-19. Countrywomen Soratja and Monthila also went down to China's world No 1 pair Gao Ling and Huang Sui 21-7 21-7.
