True teams up with Villa

True Corp Plc is to promote supermarket chain operator Villa Market's products on its e-commerce website and through its mobile-phone channels.

Villa Market JP Co Ltd's chief operating officer, Pisit Poosanakhom, said yesterday that the tie-up with True was aimed at providing convenience to its customers, most of whom were familiar with the website.

People can now access Villa products at www.weloveshopping.com, as well as at its retail outlets.

After an order is placed and payment made, True will deliver the products to the customer. However, the service is initially limited to the Bangkok metropolitan area.

True will also send product update information and special promotions to subscribers of its mobile-phone operator True Move as part of the tie-up.

Customers can also use their mobile phones to pay for items using a True Money account, as well as their credit cards.

True is aiming for about 500,000 True Money users by the end of the year, up from 300,000 at present.

The service enables users to pay a wide range of bills both inside and outside the True Group.

Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, True's managing director for office, SME solution and wireless access, said True's e-commerce website aimed to bring in major partners like Villa Market at a rate of one per month.

"Our role is to provide a platform for small and medium-size enterprises to promote products online and to give them complete support from product delivery to bill collection," he said.

True Money's general manager, Piyachart Ratanaprasartporn, said the unit was developing a contact-less payment system to enable mobile-phone users to pay for any products by just swiping their phones over sensors.
