Cyclists gearing up for the Tour

[CYCLING] Top cyclists from 14 nations will challenge for the top honours in the Bt600,000 Samila Tour of Thailand, which runs from September 20-24 in Songkhla.
A total of 10 squads - from Vietnam, the Netherlands, Australia, Laos, Singapore, Bahrain, Japan, France, Indonesia and Malaysia - have already signed up to take part in the five-day event, while riders from Burma, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Bangladesh who took part in last year's race are expected to join the fray. As for local riders, the Thai Cycling Association (TCA) will allow only five teams which take part in the National Championships every year to compete in the meet. The Tour will be divided into separate divisions - the men's open, men's juniors, women's open and over-30. The overall champion in each class will win a trophy plus a cash prize. The winner in each stage and the fastest rider of the event will also take home prize money. The organisers say this year's courses are attractive and are set in mountains and in forests along the Thai-Malaysian border.
