My uncle is not brave enough to do assassination job

A niece of the lone suspect in the alleged assassination plot against the premier did not believe that her uncle, Lt Thawatchai Klinchana was involved in the attempt, saying he always fainted when he saw blood.

"My uncle is known for being very sensitive and not so brave. When he saw blood from a knife cut, he always fainted. So how he could he be an assassin in the plot against the prime minister," she asked.

The suspect's niece refused to identify herself. She insisted that Thawatchai is a strong admirer of Thaksin. "Whenever people criticise Thaksin, my uncle always defends him," she said.

She said she worked in Ratchaburi but took a half day off to visit Thawatchai. She talked to reporters before seeing her aunt.

She declined to comment when asked whether Thawatchai was set up and said she did not think her uncle will try to take his life.

Meanwhile, the suspect's wife, Songvorn, said after visiting her husband for 20 minutes that he looked more relaxed now. About his thyroid condition, she said he will be allowed to see doctors this Sunday to have blood test.
