Young Bangkokians are up to a challenge

[CHILDREN'S GAMES] Children from Bangkok won three more gold medals to help their city rule the 40th Bangkok International Children's Games, which finished yesterday.
On the last day of competition and with 12 gold medals on offer, Bangkok won their first gold in the boy's futsal after beating Plock from Poland 3-1. The girl's squad also defeated Khon Kaen 4-1 to give Bangkok another gold medal. In volleyball, Bangkok came from behind to beat Khon Kaen 2-1. Bangkok dominated the tournament with a total of 40 medals - 19 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze. In second place was Beijing, China, with nine gold, five silver and one bronze, while Seoul, South Korea, won eight gold, six silver and two bronze to finish third. Thailand fielded contestants from 10 cities - Khon Kaen, Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Phuket, Sukhothai and Yala - and won a total of 74 medals - 25 gold, 24 silver and 25 bronze. The 41st edition of the event will be staged in Reykjavik in Iceland, which finished in 26th position.
