IN BRIEF
Asia sign conference : Outdoor-media revolution explored

The Bangkok-based Asia Sign Association (ASA) is organising a two-day international conference, "Sign Biz & Out-of-Home Media (OHM) Asia Forum 2006: How to Reach Customers by Learning and Using the Newest OHM Techniques".

The two-day conference will be held from September 28-29 at Muang Thong Thani's Impact Convention and Exhibition Centre concurrently with Sign Asia Expo '06. It will bring together world leaders in outdoor media - also called Out of Home Media - from industry associations in the United States, Europe and Asia.

ASA president Vinai Silapasiliporn said the objective of the conference was to bring leading outdoor advertising, media, marketing and research professionals to Thailand to discuss the revolution occurring round the world in urban media.

Auto industry : Used cars trickling into 'stagnant' VN

About 200 used cars have arrived in Vietnam in the last three months, following that country's decision to lift its ban on second-hand imports, the online newspaper VietNamNet reported last week.

BMWs have proved the favourite so far, with 23 models imported, while 14 of Kia Motor's Morning model have docked at Vietnamese ports from South Korea. Toyota Sienna SUVs have also proved popular, with 10 vehicles imported.

Sales of 11 carmakers belonging to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) fell last month, while sales of second-hand imports increased, VietNamNet reported. Overall, the VAMA reported 3,362 units sold last month, a decrease of 137 units from in May, leading the online news agency to describe the market as "stagnant".
