Juniors strike gold

[CHILDREN'S GAMES] Local youngsters won 10 gold medals with the dance sport squad scooping five at the 40th Bangkok International Children's Games yesterday. Of the six gold medals on offer in dance sports at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, Thailand won the waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slow foxtrot and standard five dance.
At the Thai-Japan Welfare Youth Centre, Varaporn Pornsirijanya won two gold for the country, winning the girls' gymnastic team and individual all equipment events. In the swimming competition at the same venue, Nattapong Ketin won the boy's 200m individual medley. Sarita Pongsree won Thailand's only gold medal in taekwondo in the 52kg category at the Prachaniwet Sport Centre. Thailand's 10 gold medals came from Bangkok (5), Chiang Mai (4) and Yala (1). Beijing and Taiwan both won three gold, followed by Seoul with two gold.
