Online tool to assist with market research

Businesses that want to conduct product and service research before launches now have a new choice - the first online market research toolbox called TNS 6th dimension.
Aim-on Kongkeow, general manager of TNS (Thailand), said yesterday that TNS 6th dimension offers a fully managed online access panel, timely results and multimedia capabilities. It also has no interviewer bias, which is ideal for sensitive topics. Its Internet methodology is more cost-effective than other kinds of research methodology. The online toolkit can be applied to consumer, technology and electronic products. With online tools, businesses can save up to 30 per cent on the cost and 40 per cent on the time to conduct research. "The 6th dimension enables higher response rates or about 40 per cent. This is because all panel members agreed to participate in market research surveys when they registered with us," Aim-on said. The firm has conducted its first online access poll in Thailand, which found that consumers view the economic situation as worrisome and have tightened their purse strings in preparation for uncertainty in the near future. The survey took 50 hours from August 17-19 with 6001 samples from TNS' online database for a response rate of 38 per cent of the panel members. The firm now has signed up about 6,000 active panel members here and expects to increase the database to 10,000 members by the end of the year. The new online research toolkit is expected to generate 15 per cent of the company's total sales this year. Jirapan Boonnoon The Nation
