Dhurakij Pundit continue their run

The in-form Dhurakij Pundit University team downed the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok side 88-70 in a preliminary Group A match in the Bt140,000 The Nation-Siam University League Tournament yesterday.
Hosts Dhurakij Pundit University, who top Group A, fielded all their main players, including national team player Piyapong Piroon, while the visiting King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok side were led by Nakorn Seelawanich. The hosts were in superb form and led 22-16 by the end of the first quarter. In the following quarter the hosts still controlled proceeding as Dhurakij Pundit University guard Weerayut Wangsujaritkul made accurate passes and also sank 11 points to help his team extend their lead to 43-25 at half-time. The King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok team started marking their men, but failed to break the hosts' defensive game to trail 63-49 at the end of the third quarter. The visitors then tried to fight back, but it was too hard to chase the in-form hosts with little time remaining on the clock. The King Mongkut's Institute of Technology University North Bangkok team remains winless. In another Group A clash, Nontapop Wiwatpongpech hit 17 points to lead Thammasat University past Rangsit University 73-59 in an aggressive match. Elsewhere, the visiting Siam University side were in splendid form to stun the favoured Srinakarinwirot University 86-80 in their second meet in Group B.
