Colourful printers

Canon Marketing (Thailand) yesterday unveiled five imagePROGRAF large-format printers, complete with what it dubs the Canon Real Colours concept for exceptional reproduction.
Also part of the new product line-up is the world's first 12-colour printing system featuring three special pigments of red, green and blue for a wider range, and two grey shades for reduced metamerism in monochrome.Metamerism is a photo phenomenon where composite grey inks - achieved with combinations of cyan, magenta and yellow ink - make image areas look different under different lighting conditions, such as sunlight, fluorescent light and incandescent light. The new imagePROGRAF line is designed to meet the needs of graphic-arts industry professionals, CAD applications as well as general office use, and produce perfect printout on a wide variety of media, says the company. Soontorn Pantaramongkon, director and general manager of the business imaging solution division, said demand for high performance printers was growing tremendously due to the persuasiveness of digital imaging technology.
