Cute Press to expand into retail sector

SSUP Bangkok 1991 Co Ltd will spend more than Bt45 million next year to open 30 new Cute Press retail shops throughout the country, in an effort to strengthen its retail network to complement conventional direct sales.
Expanding its retail distribution is part of the company's drive to revitalise the Cute Press brand, which has been on the market for almost 30 years. "The opening of the retail stores, which will sell Cute Press products exclusively, from make-up to skin and personal-care products, will help the company improve the Cute Press image. "It will be more convenient for our sales representatives and consumers who want to shop for our products at locations near their communities," said company board member Vichien Kulvaraporn. He said the company currently has about 200,000 representatives selling its Cute Press cosmetic products and about 10,000 new people are being recruited every month. "We are looking for convenient locations to open our Cute Press pick-and-pay outlets, such as at Tesco Lotus and Big C Supercentre complexes, or at community markets in particular cities," Vichien said. He added that each outlet would have a start-up cost of about Bt1.5 million, which would cover stock and decoration. About 110 Cute Press shops are already in operation, and the company is keen to accelerate its expansion to 250 retail shops covering all major cities in the country. "We would like to expand our Cute Press business by 7 per cent this year, to achieve sales of Bt963 million," Vichien said. "Cute Press products contribute more than 50 per cent of SSUP's business." Meanwhile, SSUP Bangkok 1991 Co Ltd yesterday launched its new skin-care product: Cute Press Sweet Musk Body Lotion.
