Israeli tech firms look for tie-ups

A 12-member hi-tech trade mission from Israel is in Thailand to seek out opportunities for investment and collaboration.
The delegation, led by Israeli Ambassador to Thailand Yael Rubinstein, arrived on Sunday for three days of intensive meetings. The group is scheduled to meet acting Information and Communications Technology Minister Suchai Charoenratanakul and top executives of leading local telecom companies, according to a statement from the Israeli Embassy. Organised by the Economic and Trade Office of the Embassy of Israel in Thailand and the Israel Export Institute with the assistance of Dataconsult Ltd, the mission consists of top-level representatives of Allot, Alvarion, Audiocodes, Axerra, Centro, Converse, Corrigent, ECL, Electronics Line, Israel-Vietnam, MTS and RAD. These are leaders among more than 2,600 hi-tech companies in Israel, a ratio of one for every 2,400 people, with the number of hi-tech start-ups second only to Silicon Valley in the United States. The high-technology industrial sector is enjoying unprecedented growth, now attracting more venture capital investment than at any time in history. Ethy Levy, the embassy's economic attache, said he was confident there is great potential for cooperation between Israeli and Thai firms, especially in telecoms.
