Danai out in new york

Thai men's No 2 Danai Udomchoke's great run in the US$100,000 GHI Bronx Classic in New York ended on Saturday with a 6-2 6-4 defeat to American Michael Russel in the semi-final.

It was Danai's second straight loss to the American following their first meeting in Texas six years ago when the Thai also went down in two sets, 7-5 6-3. Danai will next play in the US Open qualifying rounds, which start later this week. He last qualified for the tournament held at Flushing Meadows in 2004 before losing to Tommy Robredo of Spain in round one.
