Executives form Nutrition joint venture

Three executives of Channel 3 and BEC-Tero Entertainment yesterday announced a joint venture called Minami Nutrition (Thailand) Co Ltd with a Belgium-based nutrition firm.
The venture has registered capital of Bt5 million.BEC-World managing director Prawit Maleenont and vice president Prasan Maleenont and BEC-Tero Entertainmentmanaging director Brian L Marcar hold equal stakes in Minami Nutrition (Thailand), accounting for more than 50 per cent of the firm's capital. Belgium-based Minami Nutrition (Belgium) Co Ltd holds the rest. The three executives said the project was not related to BEC-Tero or Channel 3. Marcar said Minami expected to win 20 per cent of the local food-supplement market despite tough competition. The company plans to generate Bt100 million in revenues this year and achieve as much as Bt500 million in three years. Minami has launched a range of concentrated Omega-3 supplements, such as MorDHA and MorEPA, which are imported from Belgium. The new products are priced at Bt2,200 for adults' Omega-3 supplements and Bt1,800 for children's supplements, each in 60-capsule jars. They will distribute their products in drug stores, including Boots and Watson's, and through Thaiticketmaster. Marcar said the company has set aside Bt30 million for marketing through various media channels including radio stations under Channel 3 and Virgin Radio. BEC-Tero will organise marketing events for Minani's products. This year, the three executives also plan to invest more than Bt100 million to establish more companies. Of these, two will be cosmetics companies.
