US trade fair hits Bangkok next month

Several leading American business and academic organisations have agreed to participate in the Buy & Visit USA 2006 trade fair, according to an announcement by the American Chamber of Commerce and the US Embassy, which will co-host the event.
The exhibition - which will run from September 1-3 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre - will promote American products, services and destinations. The organisers said the exhibition would allow Thais to experience the American lifestyle and would also enhance trade relations between the two countries. - The Nation.
Vietnam getting more Thai visitors this year About 70,000 foreign tourists visited Vietnam via the international border gate of Lao Bao in the central province of Quang Tri in the first seven months of the year. Seventy per cent of them were Thais, according to figures from the Quang Tri Tourism Department. Central Plaza enjoys higher sales and profit Central Plaza Hotel Plc reported first-half revenue of Bt3.48 billion - a 13.5-per-cent increase from the Bt3.06 billion recorded in the same period last year. It reported a first-half net profit of Bt335.6 million, up 8.7 per cent from the Bt308.8 million reported in the first half of 2005. The company's first-half average occupancy rate increased to 65 per cent from 63.2 per cent in the first half of last year, said senior vice president of finance and administration Ronnachit Mahatanapruet. - The Nation.
