Deputy EC secretary-general Praving Kahaceewa said the EC would open recruiting for local EC members today and appoint them next Friday. Each electorate has nine EC members and one EC director. He had reports from 89 electorates in 20 provinces that 1,525 candidates were vying to become local EC members and 226 for local EC directors.
