LATE NEWS
Tariffs increased

Thailand's Department of Trade Negotiations will seek compensation from the European Union because the trading bloc has applied new tariff rules on chicken imports, a senior official said.

Oil Fund cut

Caretaker Energy Minister Viset Choopiban has hinted at the possibility of reducing the contribution from diesel oil sales to the Oil Fund, if crude oil exceeds US$80 per barrel.

The contribution could be cut from 95 satang per litre to 50. Viset said that the lower income would force the Oil Fund to negotiate with financial institutions in rescheduling the loan. - The Nation.

Plan opposed

The Labour Union of MCOT Plc has opposed the Finance Ministry's resolution to put 11 per cent of MCOT's shares held by the ministry up as collateral for a loan from the Government Savings Bank to buy TMB Bank's capital increase shares.

The Finance Ministry's holding in MCOT will be reduced from 77 per cent to 66 per cent if this occurred. The ministry has vowed to buy back the stake within the next three years. - The Nation.
