Student shot on bus

A vocational student has been paralysed following a shooting attack on a city bus yesterday.
The Bangkok Industrial Technology School student was shot in the back of the head by a drive-by shooter riding pillion on a motorcycle.
Following a two-and-a-half hour operation, 20-year-old Witthaya Tharnprakhone remains almost completely paralysed. Doctors removed a single bullet from his brain. The attack took place on Srinakarin Road outside Seacon Square. The motorcycle had been following the bus on which Witthaya was a passenger. Two of his friends were slightly injured in the shooting. The motorcycle fled along Soi Onnuj. Prawet police quoted witnesses who described the gunman as 175 centimetres tall with a light complexion. The motorcycle rider was dark-complexioned, they said. The motorcycle was a black Honda Wave 100 without registration plates. There were about 20 passengers on the number 1013 bus at the time of the shooting. A school official said the shooting could have been a revenge attack following a brawl between his students and those from another vocational school.
