Murder suspects die in jail

Two suspects arrested after the murder of environmentalist Charoen Wat-aksorn have died in detention while awaiting trial.
Prachuap Hinkaew and Saneh Lekluan succumbed to chronic diseases, Bangkok Remand Prison chief warden Thanapat Jantarapannnik said yesterday."They were ill when they arrived here. Our medical unit provided them with the best possible treatment and their families understand what's happened," Thanapat said. Prachuap and Saneh were among five suspects facing charges relating to the fatal shooting of Charoen in 2004. The Criminal Court has now dropped the cases against Prachuap and Saneh, but is pursuing cases against the three other suspects, Thanu Hinkaew, Manote Hinkaew and Jua Hinkaew.
